·        The Gosport Community Association is an independent registered Charity formed in 1947 to promote the wellbeing of the Gosport community in a common effort to
advance intellectual development and to provide facilities for recreation and leisure time.
·        The Centre is one of the largest in Hampshire and is a Community Centre in the truest sense of the word used extensively by a diverse section of the population impacting on  activities for early years, lifelong learning, crime reduction, healthy living and social inclusion.
·        One of our major projects at the present time is to improve Theatre facilities at the Centre and develop Arts provision in Gosport.  The Thorngate Theatre which is housed in the complex is used by many groups and has brought much enjoyment to many of the residence of Gosport staging Shows, Musicals, Floral Art Demonstrations,  Cabarets, Annual Pantomime, Band Nights, Childrens Dance Concerts -  the list is endless.
·        A visit to the Panto at the Thorngate Theatre is often a Childs first experience of “live entertainment”.  Likewise  the many theatrical and dancing organisations that stage their productions at the Centre give the opportunity for the social wellbeing and development of youngsters.
·        In the last two years our resident Dancing School have joined with the Pantomime Group and performed an exceptionally high standard of Pantomime that would give the professional Shows a run for their money with a firstclass cast, scenery and costumes.
·        We would like to have the ability to run a Cinema Club.  Our members have informed  us that they have found that visiting  town and city cinemas can be quite intimidating and would welcome the facility within their community centre.
·        If we were able to improve the facilities with a major refurbishment and the installation/upgrade of modern technical equipment then our Arts programme could go from strength to strength and meet the needs of the local community thus avoiding the necessity to travel to other Towns/Cities.
·        We would, therefore, like to invite all local Arts Group and other interested parties to join us in developing and reaching our goal with the aim of hopefully attracting funding support.  We just cannot do it on our own and need input from people such as yourselves if we are to succeed.
·        Every assistance no matter how great or small would welcome and by helping the Association you are helping the people of Gosport.
If you are interested in getting involved them please register your interest by contacting Reception at your earliest convenience.  (023 92 510012)
